This is the Kiama Art Society's 35th annual exhibition. Come along and support some amazing artists from Kiama and the surrounding areas at this wonderful annual exhibition. A variety of styles of paintings will be displayed such as abstract, portraits and landscapes. Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories.

  • Galleries, Museums and Collections (2)
    1. John Cornwell Studios Artist John Cornwell, is famous for his rural Australiana, working horse teams, portraits, landscapes and marine subjects. His best-known work is his sculpture of Trim, at the NSW State Library.
    2. Pilots Cottage Museum Kiama Harbour (believe it or not) was once an active and very busy Quarry. To deal with the large demand a Pilots Cottage was used. In modern times the Cottage has been used as a museum displaying Kiama's rich history. The Pilots Cottage Museum is run by the Kiama Historical Society.
  • Historical Sites and Heritage Locations (6)
    1. Historic Dry Stone Walls There are many historic dry stone walls found throughout the area, more obvious in pastures west of Kiama. Some appear through the older residential parts of town. Most were discovered over 100 years ago as paddocks were cleared for farming and grazing. Much of the work is attributed to Thomas Newing, a prolific and skilled stone wall builder for over 60 years.
    2. Kiama Blowhole Kiama's famous Blowhole is the largest in the world!
    3. Kiama Lighthouse The Kiama Lighthouse was established in 1887, 10 years after the creation of the Robertson Basin, a man made harbour to service Kiama's supply of crushed blue metal and paving blocks for the streets of Sydney.
    4. Kiama Terrace Houses Kiama's Historic Houses and Sandstone Walk Shops were built in 1886 to house local quarrymen. They now provide a delightful and unique shopping experience with an array of crafts, gift ware, jewellery collectables curios and eateries. Just behind the Terrace Houses are the Sandstone Walk Shops with an interesting variety of homewares and ladies fashions.
    5. Little Blowhole Kiama The Little Blowhole is situated just off Tingira Crescent three kilometres south of Kiama Township. See vigorous sprays of water emanating from a natural rocky cove when the north easterly winds are blowing. The spray reaches remarkable heights and can be viewed from a viewing platform or on the rocky foreshore. From here you can walk around the headland south to Easts Beach.
    6. Saddleback Mountain Lookout Kiama's glorious Saddleback Mountain offers a photographers dream with the elevated Saddleback Mountain Lookout. From Cronulla, just south of Sydney to Milton, enjoy a breathtaking view of the New South Wales South Coast. Located just 10 minutes from Kiama's Blowhole, Saddleback Mountain Lookout is one of the areas greatest natural attractions.

    1. Bonaira Native Gardens Bonaira Native Gardens feature established rainforest species. Explore the magical and peaceful oasis by foot or bike and pack a picnic lunch for the family. The walk takes 30 minutes and passes a moving monument dedicated to the Wodi Wodi people - the local Aboriginal tribe. An attraction the whole family will love!
    2. Cathedral Rocks Located just three kilometres north of Kiama at the southern end of Jones Beach, this distinctive rock formation is part of the geologically fascinating coastline. Cathedral Rocks, has lured sightseers since 1890. These volcanic rocks, while intensely hard, have many joints. These joints have been eroded for many years, leaving these mysterious rock formations.
    3. Kiama Coast Walk The spectacular 22 kilometre Kiama Coast Walk begins at Minnamurra and wanders past headlands, rivers, beaches, Kiama town centre (stop for a coffee!) up to Blowhole Point then on towards the Little Blowhole passing more beaches and bays before winding up at Werri Beach.
    4. Spring Creek Bird Hide This observation hide located between the lagoon and freshwater lake enables a close-up view of waterbirds including cormorants, chicks, moorhens, coots, swans and many other local species. The ultimate bird watching experience for bird-lovers!
    5. Spring Creek Wetlands Walk Located only a few minutes west of the Kiama Post Office, you will discover a wonderful example of rehabilitated wetlands. To get there follow Terralong Street towards Jamberoo, turn right into Dido Street, then Glenbrook Drive. The entrance to the park is from a small car park. Walk along the banks of Spring Creek to the lagoon through a variety of regenerating bushland or enjoy the birdlife from a constructed hide. You will numerous waterbirds and common bush birds.
    6. Surf Beach Kiama Surf Beach is Kiama's main surfing beach surrounded by parkland and central to Kiama's main shopping district. A kid's friendly playground is included in the parkland.

Over the past 5 years the contest has grown enormously with the surfers from around the world travelling to the event. An array of talent will combine and compete for the title and ratings points.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Minnamurra, the Emergency Services Expo showcases the local Emergency Services, including the Fire Brigade, Surf Life Saving Clubs, Police, Ambulance and St John's Ambulance Service.
    3. Kiama Agricultural Show The Kiama Agricultural Show is an annual event and is in it's 166th year. It is packed with loads of things to see and do; the Kiama Show is a family friendly event.
